Description

Little Whittle is a fabulous new conversion, perfect for couples or a young family, and ideally located to explore the Jurassic Coastline and bustling market towns of Bridport, Lyme Regis and all the region has to offer.  An imaginative design in a traditional building, with a true holiday appeal and quietly tucked away on a working farm.  The stylish design reflects throughout the property from the master bedroom to the open plan living area and the addition of the patio and garden area can extend the days into the evenings to further enhance your stay.  Well laid out, offering ease of movement and very suitable for those guests who may have limited mobility as well. Nestled away in nearby Salway Ash, a quaint hamlet on the outskirts of Bridport, but close enough to enjoy the charming harbour of West Bay (recently made famous by the TV series Broadchurch) and the Heritage Coast.  For friends and larger families there is also the opportunity to book Little Kershay at the same location.  Please see LKSHAY  Both properties are run by a family who live on-site.

Nearby Bridport town is a vibrant and attractive Georgian location, now becoming better known for its lively arts scene and excellent local food.  Every Wednesday and Saturday Bridport holds a famous street Market with stalls selling curiosities, amazing artisan food and bric-a-brac.  This small market town is able to boast independent, award winning, butchers, bakers, greengrocers and a brewery!   There is also a museum, a restored Art Deco cinema (which doubles up as a concert venue and theatre), and Arts Centre.

Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, Lyme Regis is well known for its literary association with Jane Austen as well as its diverse geology which people from across the world flock to in the hunt for fossils. The historic old town retains an olde worlde charm with small streets filled with galleries, boutique shops and famed gastro restaurants and cafés.  Its sheltered south facing beaches are safe for children and water sports enthusiasts alike with great fishing and leisure boat opportunities available from the Cobb harbour.  For those who would like a change of scene and a day away from the beach, the surrounding rolling countryside, which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts walking and cycling in abundance or perhaps while away a few days exploring pretty East Devon fishing villages such as Beer and Branscombe or head to the market town of Axminster to sample Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen.

Ground floor: Front door to hallway, leading to an open plan living area all on one level; Lounge area with sofa, armchair, woodburner and Flatscreen TV, dining table and chairs. kitchen with oven and hob, fridge with ice box compartment, dishwasher and microwave.  Bedroom 1 with King size bed.  Shower room with large walk-in shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.

Outside is a patio and lawned garden with bistro table and chairs.  Pet safe, however please note that a determined miniature breed may be able to squeeze through the fencing.

Parking for one car near the front of the property.

Perfect base for exploring Dorset. Very homely and well decorated. Clean and well kept.

October 2018

Great place to escape the rat run, very quiet and the owners are great and nothing is to much trouble, 7 days isn`t enough loved it!!!

September 2018

This is a lovely cottage, remote enough to be quiet and peaceful but also close to the Jurassic coast. There is also some good walking from the doorstep although a number of the local footpaths were a little overgrown. Would recommend the Illchester Arms @ Symondsbury and the Watch House Cafe on the beach in West Bay.

September 2018

Not easy to find but once we were there we found it was only 10 minutes from Bridport. Very friendly hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

July 2018

Lovely farm setting. Quiet and relaxing in a newly furnishing cottage with all mod cons.

June 2018

We had a great break at Little Whittle. The cottage was a great base and provided everything we needed. We very much enjoyed seeing the cows on the farm most days. The cottage owners were very helpful. Would highly recommend a stay in Little Whittle.

April 2018

The owners where helpful, great house warming gifts of local treats and fresh home made bread. Lovely property well catered and cared for. Only downside was trying to find the venue at night. But after one wrong house we made it. Lovely location the local cows and calves where a treat for our little Westie. Weather spoilt our weekend but still managed to get out and explore and well the log fire seriously belts out some heat when your in and it’s going. Clean, tidy and comfortable. A little treasure and would recommend any couple staying here.

August 2017

We had an excellent stay in Little Whittle, the cottage was perfect and extremely well presented. The owners live next door and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. A car is essential as the property is approx 2 miles from Bridport, but it is centrally located to explore the whole of Dorset.
