This ancient small village is adjacent to the Axe River and estuary and nestles in a steep wooded valley surrounded by rural unspoilt countryside. The famous South West Coast Path lies on the edge of the parish and offers spectacular views across Lyme Bay and the Undercliff. The village is fortunate to have two excellent public houses; The Ship and The Harbour, offering a selection of locally sourced produce and local beers. The Axe Estuary Wetlands is just across the river and is well managed as a wildlife reserve. A large number of birds congregate to feed on the mud flats and salt marshes and these can be viewed at close quarters from one of many hides strategically located along the reserve.
The coastal town of Seaton is situated at the mouth of the River Axe with a pebble beach facing directly onto Lyme Bay and stretching East to Seaton Hole. The town lies adjacent to the Axe Estuary wetlands and marshes, whilst being surrounding by beautiful rolling Devon countryside and quaint villages. Leisure and recreational opportunities include sailing, bowls, cricket, tennis, football and art classes. Located close by is the classic popular village of Beer (2 miles), Regency Sidmouth (8 miles) and Lyme Regis (7 miles) with it’s famous Cobb.

A really well equipped property with lovely furnishings. The shape of the terrace meant that both the morning and evening sunshine could be enjoyed, and the gas BBQ was much appreciated. Two good pubs within easy walking distance, and the shop on the campsite supplies newspapers and basic provisions.
We so enjoyed. Such a warm welcome which we really appreciated. We were really spoilt with such a lovely home to stay in.Thankyou.
Helpful owners, very enjoyable stay. Lovely views over the Devon countryside from the back patio, with lots of bird song.
Beautiful top of the range fixtures and fittings
Very enjoyable stay. Hosts were very pleasant and welcoming. Great location to explore the local area.
Absolutely loved it, very sad to leave
Very clean and comfortable everything catered for
Good location with two pubs serving food within five minute walk - would suggest that you book first.
Made very welcome by owners. Good location for getting out and about. Plenty to see and visit. Weather was very kind to us as well. Good dining at The Ship Axmouth. Plenty of wildlife on patio - saw first Bullfinchn for many years. Visited by seagull tapping on kitchen door! Did not feed! Had a great holiday.
This Property was one the best we have ever stayed in, and the owner's where very helpful. The location of this cottage was central to all the great places of interest in East Devon and Dorset. If we ever come back to this area again, we would rent this property.
An outstanding property, beautifully furnished, inside and out. Excellent decking at the rear enabled us to take advantage of the very good weather and enjoy the attractive views across the river. Axmouth is a lovely village with 2 attractive pubs serving good food. Walks down to Seaton and Axmouth Bridge/Harbour are well worthwhile. Lyme Regis is a must. Enjoyed Burrow Farm and Gardens too (excellent tea room and beautiful colour in the gardens at this time of year) . Broadwindsor Craft Centre also serves excellent food in their restaurant. Thanks to Hilary and Richard for the warm welcome. Can"t wait to return!
