Banff is a two bedroom holiday apartment, quietly tucked away behind the main shopping street in the heart of the unspoilt Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis, offering comfortable and well equipped accommodation for couples or families. Traditional in feel and agreeably furnished, this first floor apartmet has an open plan living area with a lovely large bay window, making it a light and bright apartment. One small or medium sized dog, well-behaved will also be welcomed.  An allocated off-road parking for one car is provided (see details below).

Lyme Regis itself is a truly fantastic place. Situated on the magnificent UNESCO Jurassic Coast, it's known as the pearl of Dorset and upon visiting, it's easy to see why. A famous spot for fossil hunters worldwide, it also sits on the South West Coast Path and offers a whole host of wonderful hikes and walks nearby.

Lyme Regis' sheltered south-facing beaches are safe for both children and water sport enthusiasts, with great fishing and leisure boat opportunities available from the Cobb harbour. It has a fantastic food and music scene and is often used as a prime filming location.

There are also vast amounts of festivals and events happening in the town throughout the year. Some of the bigger ones include the jazz and folk festivals, Food Rocks, Regatta & Carnival Week, Guitars on The Beach, and Lifeboat Week which offers a week of fun, games, music and displays for all the family. Of course, there are also loads of smaller events happening as well!

One small to medium size well behaved dog welcome.
Please note: see parking access below.

Self-contained apartment - first floor (access via one flight of internal steps from the parking area):

Entrance hallway. Open plan living room with easy seating and flat screen TV, dining table and kitchen with electric ceramic hob, electric oven, fridge with ice-box, dishwasher and microwave.

Bedroom 1 with double bed.

Bedroom 2 with 3ft twin beds.

Bathroom: with bath, separate shower, WC and wash basin.

Utility cupboard with washing machine.

No seating outside.

The picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis, with its relaxed pace of life and genteel, old-world charm is a wonderful place to escape and unwind. Situated on the dramatic Jurassic Coast, on the border between Dorset and Devon, visitors to the town will appreciate the natural beauty of the setting nestled in rolling countryside, with miles of stunning coastal scenery right on their doorstep.

The town itself is famous for its iconic Cobb, a curving harbour wall dating back to the 13th century that is also a great spot for crabbing, fishing, or taking a boat trip to admire the magnificent views from the water. At the far end of the Cobb you’ll find the Lyme Regis Aquarium featuring a variety of local marine life, including crabs, seahorses and (at the time of writing) an 80-year-old lobster!

The Lyme Regis Museum is certainly worth a visit, and afterwards, why not use your new-found local knowledge to find a few fossils of your own along the ancient coast, or take part in a guided fossil walk to uncover some relics from the ancient cliffs around the town, which are continuously being eroded by the sea.

Lyme Regis is the perfect place to while away a pleasurable afternoon strolling through the historic 14th century old town which is brimming with characterful shops, tempting tea rooms and quirky galleries. Then enjoy a lively evening at the sea front theatre, or at one of many outstanding bars and restaurants serving locally caught fish and locally produced culinary treats.

If you fancy a beach day, the town's Cobb beach is popular with families, but there are several more beautiful beaches to discover nearby, including Charmouth beach, Chesil beach and Weymouth beach.

Meanwhile, for a family day out, there are several attractions within easy reach, including the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, Seaton Tramway and Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, all of which are just over the border in East Devon.

A holiday cottage in Lyme Regis allows you to take full advantage of all this lovely seaside town has to offer, whilst being a great base to explore this beautiful corner of Dorset and East Devon.

There is an allocated off-road parking space for one car - please note that the access to the parking area is through a very narrow archway from the main shopping street, approximately 1.9m wide at the narrowest point (may not be suitable for some cars).

If required, there is plentiful public car parks a few minutes’ walk from the apartment.  Holmbush long stay car park is a 5 minute walk away (DT7 3HX).

We weren’t expecting such a nice lunch from a comfortable hotel bar/ restaurant. “Home made” food to a good standard. Service was a little inconsistent.

November 2023

Has changed ownership since we last went. Food was lovely, staff very friendly. Our favourite place to eat during our recent holiday.

July 2022

June 2019

Nice comfortable hotel and bar with good food.

April 2019

Al la carte menu and wines are fantastic value in a truly wonderful setting. A real hidden gem in Lyme Regis with fantastic food cooked to perfection.

June 2018

We were very disappointed that the Barman in Royal Lion was not at all friendly to us at all when we popped in for a drink during our long weekend in Lyme Regis. We asked a simple question about the hotel terrace and he answered us very sternly. We did not stay for another drink after this nor a meal, which we had originally intended to do. It should be noted that we stayed at this hotel a few years ago over Easter and really enjoyed and had every intention of booking another stay. Unfortunately our recent experience has put us off staying at the Hotel in the future.

July 2017

Nice selection of local real ales and delicious fish and chips. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

May 2017

We had a meal at the hotel of pork chop and vegetables which was cooked really well and tasted good!

April 2022

Excellent and takeaway

March 2022

We walked past this in town and took a menu. The restaurant opened at 6om and we went to order at take away shortly after this time. There were a few people already in and the phoned constantly rang with people trying to book a table which they were doing their best to fit in. If you want to eat here I suggest you book in advance. Our take away took 35 minutes and was hot when we collected it. We ordered a mixture of dishes (5 of us) and I would say each portion was for two people. It was unfortunate that we did not realise that they missed two of our dishes out. In honesty I don't think they were quite geared up to takeaways as well as restaurant service but this could have been due to the strains and restrictions of covid. I would recommend the food and people in there seemed to be enjoying themselves.

August 2021

excellent take away meal

April 2021

Table at back by the door. Not brilliant. Service excellent. Lamb pass and a was nice except a few tough bits of meat. My husbands korma, however, was divine!

October 2020

Their COVID procedures leave something to be desired...tables close , no hand gel and worse of all no cleaning of hard backed menus before handing to next customers.....didn’t feel comfortable eating here

September 2020

Visited many times, usually find the takeaway better.

January 2020

Best Indian takeaway we have had, better than we get at home. Will definitely return when we are in Lyme Regis again.

October 2019

We ordered a takeaway which was of a generous size and very tasty. The restaurant is quite small so I would recommend you book a table as they were almost full by 6.30 pm

June 2019

We went as a family of 4 and had great service with excellent food.

April 2019

Always our first choice in Lyme Regis lovely food and service

August 2018

Reasonably priced and a good variety of dishes. My wife and I love Indian cuisine no La Quilla didn't disappoint.

July 2018

Enjoyed a superb meal in this Indian restaurant which my wife described as the best Indian she has ever eaten. I advise to book ahead as the place fills up quickly and as its a BYO the nearby Tesco and Coop are handy for alcohol purchases.

Loved this! Historic monument & enthusiastic volunteers. My 4 & 6 year olds loved watching the Water Wheel & cog mechanics when it was operating. So much so, we came back 3 days in a row to see the demonstration. Great history lesson!

June 2022

Most enjoyable visit

June 2022

very interesting tour of working mill. The lyme regis brewery has fantastic beers and a lovely courtyard to sit in the sun to drink it

May 2022

Even better since its recent restoration- you can see inside the mill from a viewing platform and read the information board- no charge but donations encouraged. It's a beautiful building, brilliantly restored; we bought flour from the shop because we were inspired to encourage this little gem to thrive.

March 2022

The old Mill has been lovingly restored to working order, and volunteers are keen to talk about its history, working, and demonstrate it's working. A gem, must be seen. The enjoy a beer or cider across the yard at the Brewery!

September 2021

The brewery was excellent!

June 2021

We loved the Town Mill, particularly the Lyme Regis micro-brewery. Weather wasn't too kind but never spoiled our visits. Covid meant we had to sit at outside tables, sometimes in the rain, however staff were always willing to bring our orders to us as we stood with umbrellas or managed to get a table with cover. Great hosts and great fun.

May 2021

It's a lovely collection of buildings and artisan businesses, a great area to while away time, get inspired and spend money locally! The people at the mill are super-keen and we enjoyed the whole place a lot.

October 2020

A great attraction to visit and learn about milling of grain into flour. A guided tour available and only a donation suggested. Great for children and adults alike. Guide very knowledgeable.

November 2019

Well worth a visit for young and old. Well informed volunteers provide the tour and make it so interesting. No fee is charged but contributions are welcomed and help to keep it open so please give generously.

July 2019

Well worth a visit. The "miller" gave a very informative tour Which included some history of Lyme regis as well as explaining the workings of the mill.

October 2018

The Town Mill is a great attraction, the tour guided by a volunteer miller was excellent and informative.(suggest checking the tour times as they did not run every day) . Opportunities for photographs during the tour were limited because of space but I returned a couple of days later and was able to wander around and take as many as I wanted , I also got to talk to another miller. All for a donation entry fee! The small shop sold their flour and books about the mill. ( I think 2 other reviews were talking about the Courtyard Cafe)

October 2018

Took ages to serve us and the table service in general was poor. Food was good but let down by indifferent service.

July 2018

Well worth a visit as the central feature in a really pleasant old town walk behind the main street. Easier when you start at the top and go down through the twists and turns.

Dinosaurland Fossil Museum
(Less than a mile)

(8)

A private museum that’s owned and run by Palaeontologist Steve Davies and his wife Jenny, Dinosaurland Fossil Museum contains a spectacular collection of the local Jurassic marine fossils.  The collection grows each year, meaning there’s always something new to see, with more than 10,000 specimens to show people just how exciting and wonderful the world of fossils and dinosaurs really is.  Even the building itself has an interesting pedigree as the pioneering fossil hunter Mary Anning was baptised here on 27th June 1799 and continued to worship here until about 1830. She discovered the first Ichthyosaur on the beaches here in 1811.

Lovely little museum, loads of interesting displays and information, great for families.

April 2024

Lots of interesting fossils and dinosaurs on view.

October 2023

So many fossils could fo with an upgrade but if you're interested its work popping in

October 2023

Interesting displays, especially the time gallery upstairs. We were unfortunate to go when there was a group of students, so couldn't get to all rooms, but gent on the door did warn us.

March 2023

Worth a visit and we thought it was good value. Loads of things to see and read but you have got to be into fossils and geology. Some great set ups with models, and all explained. There were some very young children in there as we walked around and they seem to love it, as the models were huge for them. They were barely walking but seem to know many of the dinosaur names. The person who welcomed us was really friendly and was happy to advice on good places to hunt for fossils. It needs a bit of a dust in places, as do most museums.

June 2022

We've visited here several times, there's a good mix of info for all age ranges, so children and adults are kept busy. Definitely worth a visit if dinosaurs and fossils are your thing. It's a bit cramped inside, but that has never spoiled our visit.

March 2022

Steve Davies has created a unique and astonishing museum on two spacious floors within the old Baptist Chapel that Mary Anning frequented. The geology and wide range of fossils are explained and exhibited. Steve has also purchased and exhibits the truly remarkable collections of several other Lyme "rock hunters", and in a very nice touch uses short biographical notes to explain their contributions. Fossil and history paradise. Don's miss it!!!

September 2021

Really good morning here, something for all ages, good timelines and lovely dinosaurs to hold for children. Very good.

Lyme Regis Museum
(Less than a mile)

Standing where Dorset meets Devon, the Lyme Regis Museum is on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and was built on the site of fossilist Mary Anning’s home.  A chance to discover Lyme’s history, geology, fossils, artists and writers, from J M Whistler to Jane Austen and John Fowles, the museum stands in the heart of the town and is run almost entirely by volunteers.  Collections range from interesting to quirky displays with walks and events scheduled throughout the season, so keep an eye on the website for more information.  The museum is open from Easter to November and prices start at £3.95 for adults while children and students go free.

A nice little museum wirth a visit

October 2023

A small but perfectly-formed museum, packed full of interesting local history.

September 2023

Quaint building and interesting selection of exhibits- our 4 year old loved the lie on the floor dinosaur scene.

July 2023

This is a really lovely museum which is packed full of interesting artefacts and fossils. My kids and I enjoyed looking round and learning so much. There is a cute gift shop at the end too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were happy to chat about fossils.

July 2022

Always interesting and its all been updated in recent years. It can get busy so go in early. We bought an annual pass as it's only £1 more and worth the value, plus supporting a great British attraction, not some franchise theme park. There is a lot about fossils but also interesting exhibits covering the area and notable locals who have lived there. There is a big spoiler about the Meryl Streep scene when she was to be filmed standing at the end of the Cobb but you need to look out for that yourself to find out what happened.

June 2022

Great- full of interesting local info aimed at children and adults. The building itself is worth seeing from inside, and the displays are well arranged- we escaped a rainy afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed it

March 2022

This wonderful and friendly museum explains the uniqueness of Lyme, it's history, characters, geology, and most famous fossils. It feels intimate, cared for, and there is something for everyone. It also has a splendid gallery about Mary Anning, her fossils, and struggle. This museum offers the "whole picture" context for the more specialised Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. The two together will enrich any thoughtful visitor.

September 2021

Well worth a visit especially if you go on Town history walk first.

July 2019

Fossils galore- recommend the Fossil Walk which includes the Museum entry. The staff there are very helpful and impart their knowledge with enthusiasm.

October 2018

Great and you get to return for a year with your entry ticket

September 2018

Excellent.

July 2018

Would highly recommend the Fossil Walk. Highly informative, lots to discover and a great walk for all ages.

June 2018

Excellent museum with friendly, enthusiastic staff. Fossil walks not to be missed - recommended after rain and storms for best finds.

Town Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)

(9)

In the picturesque harbour town of Lyme Regis, Town Beach is covered in pebbles at one end thanks to the coastal protection scheme that placed them there to provide essential care for the Marine Parade and the buildings along it.  At the other end the beach has been built up with sand, no longer gets covered at high tide and provides an extensive beach area manned by RNLI lifeguards in the summer.  There are kiosks, cafes, shops and restaurants bordering the beach, so it’s ideal for visiting with family and spending the whole day on the sand if the weather allows.  The main sandy beach in the area, it’s a delight and easy to get to when on holiday in Dorset.  There is paid parking nearby, so don’t forget your change, and remember that dogs are not permitted from 1st April to 31st October, while from 1st November to 31st March they must be on leads.

Nice clean beach with plenty of clean WCs and cafes. The sandy bit at the harbour is good for dogs to run around (out of season) and kids to dig in.

April 2024

Nice beach but very busy and did not like the swooping seagulls!

August 2023

Wonderful location and so much to do, we didn't use our car once for a week, unheard of!! The parking in the town not good but for a town of that age, it was adequate and the other car parks further out were very good.

May 2022

Booked a beach hut from Town Council! Great fun and provided welcome shade on v hot day! Appreciated the two chairs provided but would have liked a small table for food / coffee

September 2021

Great beach on the sandy side was really busy and made use of the boat hire on the beach which was great fun, seagulls are a real issue when it comes to food and we ate ours in our tent after my daughter lost a sandwich to one right out of her mouth.

August 2021

We loved the seafront and that in October it was full of people. We liked the beach bit, seeing families enjoying the sand, and it was great to see open loos, nice ice-cream and lots of different places to eat and drink.

October 2020

We had a lovely dog walk along the beach, very pleasant.

September 2018

A lovely family friendly beach. Pebbled at one end and sandy at the other. Plenty of eateries and ice cream places. A good place for fossil hunting.

August 2018

Excellent area and beach although extremely busy if the sun makes an appearance. I go to Lyme Regis whilst dogs are allowed on the beach (I do use it with my dog) and would like to see more policing re dogs off leads.

April 2017

Church Cliff Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)

(3)

Famous for its picturesque Jurassic coastline, as well as its array of fossils, Church Cliff Beach is on the edge of Lyme Regis town.  Sandy in places, at low tide there is an extensive rock ledge with hundreds of rock pools where you can catch shrimp. The River Lym flows into the bay, so paddling is a necessity if you want to stroll on the sand.  The beach is flanked by rock armour which protects the promenade, and the sand is covered at high tide.  There’s paid parking close by, so don’t forget your change.  There are facilities, restaurants and cafes in the town.  There’s no lifeguard cover on this beach, and dogs are permitted all year round, which is great news for walkers as it also makes up part of the West Dorset Heritage Coast and its accompanying footpaths.

Plenty of parking with a moderate walk down many steps to the beach. Worth the walk though with plenty of fossils around if your prepared to look.

September 2023

Lovely beach but spoilt by the amount of broken bits of glass and rusty metal components that have fallen from the cliff (believe there was some form of rubbish dump at the top of the cliff many years ago) - not a problem for most people but was worried about our dog getting injured.

May 2023

A lovely stretch of beach with rock pools and a chance to find fossils. Get there as the tide is going out and get there early. Take provisions as it is just a beach, of shingle and sand, there are some rocks to clamber over and rock pools to explore. One of our favourite beaches in the UK.

Cobb Gate Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)

(8)

This pretty harbour town dates back to the 14th century, and is sheltered by a curving harbour wall, The Cobb, as its known contains a small sandy beach made famous in the opening shot of the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman.  You reach the beach between the RNLI station and the slipway, and there is lifeguard cover in the summer months.  Activities nearby include fishing, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, surfing and water skiing, while facilities close to the beach include cafes and restaurants and toilets.  There are lots of walks in the area including guided tours of the famous fossil bearing cliffs.  There is paid parking nearby, Axminster train station is five minutes away as the crow flies and buses are available to the town centre.  Dogs are allowed on the beach from 1st November to 30th March as long as they’re on the lead, but they are not permitted in the summer months.

November 2021

Perfect sandy beach for everyone. Loved the Marine Parade with food and drink and ice creams.

October 2021

excellent, safe beach

September 2021

Always raked and cleaned. Pretty safe, excellent lifeguards. Restaurants and cafes need to be open later. Toilets very clean but not enough of them so long queues. Watch out for seagulls stealing food from your hands!

August 2021

Lovely harbour and great places to grab a bite to eat. But it is extremely busy. Every inch of the small patch of sand by the cobb was taken up but beach shelters, feet deck chairs etc. If your kids are not fussed about sand avoid the area if you want quite and relaxing. The other side of the cobb is quite and so are the toilets (which are clean)

August 2021

We walked here from Seaton along the muddy coastal path and Lyme Regis is lovely . We took a boat out from the cob .

July 2021

The cob was lovely to walk on and all you needed was near by

September 2020

Lovely to see this in sunshine for the first time in several visits. Worth going early to see it uncrowded.

Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)

(7)

Named after the Duke of Monmouth who landed here in 1685 in an attempt to take the crown from King James II, Monmouth Beach is a large pebble and sand beach that stretches over a kilometer southwest from the Cobb wall.  There are beach huts, a bowling green, the Lyme Regis Power Boat Club and paid car parks close by.  Meanwhile, for those wishing to have their own exploratory adventures, you can find a layer of limestone called the ammonite graveyard at Monmouth Beach, containing a large number of (you guessed it) ammonites.  There are numerous walks close by and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round.  There is lifeguard cover in the summer, and all the town’s cafés, restaurants and amenities are within easy reach.

My dog Luna and I really enjoy walking and playing ball along the beach keeping eyes down to see if we can find a fossil!!! very clean and looked after Love it!!!

June 2022

Stunning, quiet and picture perfect ideal place to relax and paint ?

November 2021

Stayed here in The Little Sea House right on the beach. Amazing sunrises. Beautiful and peaceful but tricky to walk on in places.

October 2021

We had a lovely holiday staying in the little sea house. Perfect location on the beach. Was very warm & cosy inside. Was generally clean on arrival but think it could do a intensive deep clean occasionally to clean racks /hard to reach places ( plug holes) but this did not effect our stay ( I’m just bit OCD with cleaning) I would recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing tranquil break. Also the out hours staff from toadhall cottages were very helpful. Would book again

Just beautiful

Great for fossil hunting and dog friendly!

Charmouth Beach
(2 miles)

(7)

Perfect for family days out, Charmouth Beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, fossils (for which the area is famous), good swimming and good surf.  It is divided into two distinct areas (East and West) by the mouth of the River Char, which often forms a lagoon suitable for boating or watching the ducks swim past.  To get to the beach, simply find the centre of the village and follow Lower Sea Lane.  There are ample car parks close to the beach as well as another one half way down Lower Sea Lane if those are full.  Dogs are allowed on the West beach as long as they are on leads from 1st May and 30th September between the sea defenses and Lyme Regis but not on the area of beach in front of the beach huts and the Heritage Centre. From 1st July to 31st August dogs are not allowed on East Beach between 10:00am and 6:00pm, but are welcome outside these hours.  At East Beach there is a beach café and picnic tables close by, and in the summer months there is a bouncy castle.  There are also lots of beautiful walks close by to enjoy.  West Beach meanwhile is about a mile and a half long and is a haven for fossil hunters and avid rock-poolers.

Walking this beach from Lyme Regis

October 2023

Great beach, Its busy by the shops but plenty of places to walk to find space away from others. The toilets are bad, so with a few wipes and wash you hands after. Get there early for parking. It is sand, shingle and rock pools, so great for a non commercialised beach day. Follow the tide out if you are fossil hunting but best to have a guided tour first from the museum so you know what you are looking for. One of our favourite sea sides in Britain.

June 2022

This is a beautiful area. Gets very busy and there are about four car parks and on street parking. The museum was very fascinating. Toilet queue was horrendous. This is a great area for inflatables as you can go down the stream if you want instead of the sea. There is also a large grass bank to picnic on instead of the beach cobbles.

August 2021

Great beach if but a bit stony where we went, good facilities for food and drinks and no where near as many seagulls as Lyme Regis.

August 2021

Lovely quaint beach.

May 2019

Lovely spot to sit, relax and look for fossils.

April 2024

Really lovely apartment, very comfy. We had a lovely stay.

October 2023

Really enjoyed our stay.

September 2023

Consistently and reliable, high standards set by this wonderfully appointed property. A real treasure , in the pearl of Dorset.

August 2023

We had an absolutely splendid holiday and have already booked for next year.

June 2023

We thoroughly enjoyed Lyme Regis the apartment was in an excellent location handy for the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. We could not access the included parking as we arrive in our Kuga which was too wide to get through the gap but we did manage to park next door on the Royal Lion car park at a charge of £10 per night which we thought was very reasonable by comparison to using the council car parks which long stay was about 10 minutes walk away.

June 2023

Home from home, lives up to expectations

May 2023

We had an amazing time, the flat was well equipped and comfortable and was close to everything. Unfortunately we did scrape our car trying to manoeuvre thru the archway so we could park outside to unload the car and after that didn’t want to risk it again so parked in nearby car park for the rest of the week. Other than the parking issues everything else was perfect and we will book again.

May 2023

We wished we could have stayed a few more days! Unfortunately, we could do little about the weather! The location was central for everything needed including the sea front, shops , pubs, transport etc. Glad we didn't have a car; I would not have wanted to manoeuvre it through the archway!

April 2023

We enjoyed our stay thanks, location excellent, lovely and clean, warm and everything we needed was available, just the bed being far too hard means we won’t stop there again. Didn’t feel rested after an otherwise lovely week away.

October 2022

Our regular home from home!

August 2022

Fantastic stay with two small lively Grandchildren. Apartment ideally located for the shops and beach. Plenty of room for the children to play and they loved it too. Thank you. Ps We couldn't get our car through the narrow archway but managed to find some overnight street parking only a short àwalk away.

August 2022

Enjoyed our stay very much , only issue was the poor parking availability.

Everything else is great, already booked next year

June 2022

Home from home, we love it!

June 2022

Lovely apartment in an ideal location on the high street. Instructions were clear and everything was as we expected. The parking access was very tight but we expected that and managed to get our estate car through with one of us directing the other (and the mirrors pulled in). Comfy beds, decent shower, plenty of hot water. No outdoor space but that was clear in the details.

May 2022

Enjoyed our stay the location is excellent and the flat is spacious and comfortable.

May 2022

Great accommodation with everything you need.

May 2022

Loved it. Clean, comfortable, great shower. Fab location! Smart Tv. Our dog appreciated the dog biscuits left in a bowl on the table ????Great selection of books ? Will be back. Thank you ?

March 2022

We enjoyed our stay except having to be at the car early to pay for extra hours or move it.

February 2022

Great weekend in a clean, comfortable, well equipped apartment in an excellent, central location just yards from pubs, restaurants, the Marine Theatre and the Town Mill, including it's great little brewery. Worth pointing out that the twin room is very small, but the rest of the apartment is spacious enough. The opening to the car park is, as advertised, extremely narrow, and with the wing mirrors on my VW Passat beginning to touch the rendering as I got to the narrowest point with less than half an inch clearance on the other side, we had to abandon our efforts to gain access! Wasn't a major issue for us however, as I instead used the Woodmead Car Park (£25 for 3 days), around 400m away - though it should be noted that this includes a steep climb. This is the third time we've used Toad Hall Cottages when staying in Lyme Regis, and each time we've had very good, well described properties, and spot on communication. Highly recommended.

October 2021

Home from home, our Eigth stay, and we look forward to the Ninth!

July 2021

The heater in the lounge was on, couldn’t turn it off. Otherwise excellent.

June 2021

We had a very enjoyable stay indeed and given the difficulties shown up by Covid you have done a great job. many thanks

June 2021

Banff is like a second home to us, so many fond memories. It is very special, every time we visit. We'll be back in the autumn!

October 2020

Had a lovely time. Town centre location brilliant. Didn’t move the car all week!

September 2020

We were very pleased with the apartment and the whole place was comfortable and warm we really enjoyed our visit; A very happy and enjoyable week at Banff.

September 2020

Always lovely, always special, keeps us coming back.

August 2020

Yes we loved it!

July 2020

Great property and felt safe and at home. Our 4th stay and will be back ????

February 2020

It was a fantastic stay and we always enjoy the BANFF. We were told that there would be milk on arrival, there was none. It would be great if they could make the vehicle entrance wider - even slightly would help - perhaps shave an inch each side off the rendering.

January 2020

All very good

November 2019

A good place to stay near the beach and on the main road but quiet. A lovely bay window in the main room which gave a lot of light even on a dull day. Good to have a parking space but very narrow archway with a small kink through which we could only get a small car . Anyone with an estate car would have problems. But we enjoyed our stay and the facilities were had everything we needed for a self catering stay.

October 2019

Lovely stay, can't wait to return.

September 2019

Had a wonderful stay in this quirky and comfortable apartment.

August 2019

Mobile phone and wifi much better than stated, had no outages on either. Nissan Qashqai just 'scraped' through the archway which is a guide to the largest car that can access the parking space.

August 2019

We had a fabulous time , great location and felt very at home looking forward to coming back next year !

August 2019

Great apartment family friendly would recommend

June 2019

Yes we did enjoy our stay. Just an observation the wall inside the entrance from the alleyway was very wet!!!!

May 2019

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. No complaints about Banff. Entrance onto car park hair-raising!

March 2019

Lovely bright apartment and warm. We loved the location. Beds very comfortable and lovely bathroom. The sofa and chairs let it down.

November 2018

A lovely stay in a comfortable apartment. So close to dog friendly cafes and shops as well as the sea.

October 2018

Our Holiday was very enjoyable, the weather helped-sunny most of the time and evenings warm. Had hoped to use local buses more but found them restrictive on timing. Lovely walks from Lyme itself and a great selection of eateries, Antonio Trattoria earns 5*'s! Please add Antonio to your Review List.Thank you Toad Hall Cottages.

October 2018

We had a lovely holiday. Flat was in a very good location and everything we could wish for was provided. Decided not to attempt driving car into courtyard!

October 2018

Quiet and conveniently located. Is there a connection to British Columbia as several flat names suggest. Might try Jasper next year

August 2018

Great property, great location - a bit scary getting the car in.

July 2018

yes had a lovely stay , weather was fantastic

July 2018

During our stay i mistakenly locked myself out of the apartment, and the ladies i dealt with at Toad Hall Cottages could not have been more helpful. All it took was one phone call and the lady managed to arrange for another lady to meet me at the local office with a spare key. Thank you so much. The apartment was spotless and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I have mentioned the 2 points regarding bedroom storage and the possible TV/Wifi problems but these didnt detract from our stay, and will not hesitate to recommend you to family and friends. Hope to stay with you again soon.

July 2018

Lovely stay, great central location, managed to access the car ok! Have visited Lyme on many occasions and it never loses its charm. Minor point which is not your fault but we did encounter some late night disturbance from the Royal Lion Hotel staff accommodation adjacent, the staff obviously come off duty and given the warm weather tended to sit outside drinking and playing music into the early hours, had we stayed longer I would have considered a call to the hotel management but hey I don't want to be Mr Miserable, wonder if any other clients had experience of this? It would not however deter us from re-booking this apartment.

July 2018

Had great time accomadation fantastic. Just the arch way was not easy to manover causing £300 worth of damage to car

June 2018

We loved our stay at Banff, it was our first stay in Lyme Regis and it was an amazing time had by all. Great location, loved the beach, restaurants and bars/pubs. Loads of things for all ages to do, we look forward to coming back some time soon and will be recommending your services. Thank you once again. Mr&Mrs Danaher

June 2018

It was an amazing location. So convenient.

June 2018

I would like to pass onto you our thanks for providing a lovely base, for a great holiday. It was faultlessly clean, with every amenity we could need. Providing tea, coffee, milk, toilet paper, and sundries other little things, was a lovely touch. But...best of all the doggy gift bag you put together, was so thoughtful, and much appreciated by your canine guest. So thank you, once again, keep up the good work, and see you in September.

November 2017

Really enjoyed our stay. Very welcoming, comfortable and homely. Good wifi to keep teen happy. Great location and dog and vegan friendly cafes nearby as well as speciality beers next door. Would love to stay again sometime. Driving through narrow access a little nerve wracking

October 2017

We certainly enjoyed our stay at Banff, the location in the middle of the high street is excellent and so near the sea front too. Wish they could widen that entrance to the car park, luckily we have a small car but it took some careful driving to navigate through!

October 2017

Had some difficulties operating cooker and microwave. But thought it a lovely property

September 2017

Had a wonderful stay . The only problem we had was the car was too big for the entry into the rear court yard but the car park at the top of the village was not too much of a problem as we tend not to use the car when on holiday, we use local transport. Have booked holidays through you before and have never been disappointed.

July 2017

We had a super week and really enjoyed our stay.

June 2017

Yes, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, accomodation provided everything to make our stay a pleasure.

May 2017

We had a fantastic time. Mum in law, who is 80, walked so much and felt totally at ease in the apartment. My love of real ales was also catered for with Cellar 59 next door! Many visits to Lyme Regis but first time we've stayed there. Will definitely be returning. And using Toad Hall.

April 2017

Lovely flat Perfectly clear on arrival

March 2017

We love staying at Banff, this was our 3rd visit and we absolutely love it there.

October 2016

Another great stay, hope to be back again in the future.

July 2016

We had a great week and the flat was ideally situated.

April 2016

The owners appear to have thought of everything one might want on holiday. We were really pleased with our stay. Things like the washing machine, dishwasher, cleaning products, pint of milk dropped off on day 1, biscuits, games, takeaway menus were all really appreciated and made the holiday all the better. It's definitely the most organised rental we have ever stayed at. The location was really well situated for us right behind the high street shops but still really quiet.
