A beautiful unspoiled Devon market town, Axminster is surrounded by spectacular countryside brimming with charm and character. The iconic Saxon church of St. Mary stands proudly on Minster Green in the centre of the town, which is famous for its carpets. The original Axminster factory was opened in 1755 by Thomas Whitty and authentic British Axminsters are still made in the town. On another note, celebrity chef and TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, whose famous River Cottage cookery school is close by, purchased an old inn that once constituted the town’s ballroom, and converted it into his very first River Cottage Canteen and Deli (an organic produce shop come market and canteen). With so much character in the area we have many gorgeous holiday cottages in Axminster, catering to families, pets and couples.
