The picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis, with its relaxed pace of life and genteel, old-world charm is a wonderful place to escape and unwind. Situated on the dramatic Jurassic Coast, on the border between Dorset and Devon, visitors to the town will appreciate the natural beauty of the setting nestled in rolling countryside, with miles of stunning coastal scenery right on their doorstep.
The town itself is famous for its iconic Cobb, a curving harbour wall dating back to the 13th century that is also a great spot for crabbing, fishing, or taking a boat trip to admire the magnificent views from the water. At the far end of the Cobb you’ll find the Lyme Regis Aquarium featuring a variety of local marine life, including crabs, seahorses and (at the time of writing) an 80-year-old lobster!
The Lyme Regis Museum is certainly worth a visit, and afterwards, why not use your new-found local knowledge to find a few fossils of your own along the ancient coast, or take part in a guided fossil walk to uncover some relics from the ancient cliffs around the town, which are continuously being eroded by the sea.
Lyme Regis is the perfect place to while away a pleasurable afternoon strolling through the historic 14th century old town which is brimming with characterful shops, tempting tea rooms and quirky galleries. Then enjoy a lively evening at the sea front theatre, or at one of many outstanding bars and restaurants serving locally caught fish and locally produced culinary treats.
If you fancy a beach day, the town's Cobb beach is popular with families, but there are several more beautiful beaches to discover nearby, including Charmouth beach, Chesil beach and Weymouth beach.
Meanwhile, for a family day out, there are several attractions within easy reach, including the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, Seaton Tramway and Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, all of which are just over the border in East Devon.
A holiday cottage in Lyme Regis allows you to take full advantage of all this lovely seaside town has to offer, whilst being a great base to explore this beautiful corner of Dorset and East Devon.

The Pilot Boat
(Less than a mile)
(22)
A traditional Dorset pub set in the heart of the busy seaside town of Lyme Regis which is popular with locals and visitors alike. Produce is bought daily depending on seasonality, from what is offered by nearby farms, caught in the sea, grown in the garden, foraged or available at good local suppliers. Dog and children friendly.
Pilot Boat, 1 Bridge St, Lyme Regis DT7 3QA (T: 01297 443157)
Excellent lunch time meal for our family of 5 adults & 2 children. Food nicely presented & very tasty. Children's meals were of a good size. Service was good & the staff were very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to return when we are next in the area.
October 2023
Absolutely superb. Great atmosphere and staff. Food is top quality
October 2023
Tried 2 beers from Palmer's and both were undrinkable. Did not stay long!
October 2023
Dog friendly pub with good food down at the centre of town.
April 2023
We ate in here quite a few times whilst we were staying in Lyme Regis for the week and the food was delicious and freshly prepared. Really good choice on the menu. We were allowed to sit in the bar with our dog but they did have proper tables and chairs. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
July 2022
Overpriced and poor menu. What a shame that an old traditional pub was pulled apart and ruined.
July 2022
Good food at fair price, nice relaxed atmosphere.
July 2022
Busy and many seemed to like it. Service was quick but we were early. It got busier and unless you had booked there were limited spaces. Food Ok but pricey. Good for big noisy families but not so cosy for couples.
June 2022
even better than expected !! Two excellent meals in very pleasant surroundings with excellent service
May 2022
We were a group of 4 adults and we ate evening meals here twice within a week in February; great service from friendly staff, cosy and warm, good food at good prices- definitely the best place we ate at in Lyme, hence our second visit.
March 2022
Good food but over the Christmas period, none of the staff wore Covid face masks and it felt very insecure
December 2021
We booked in advance (a week) as we knew it would be busy as summer and restrictions were easing. Our tale was for 5.30 and we arrived at 5.20 and sat down immediately. Table was clean and there was a nice separation between the tables. Majority of staff had masks on and from where I was seated I could see that they were regularly sanitising their hands. Food - Portions as a little off with starters being quite large. We had the catch of the day (Sea Bass) which was delicious but came with an enormous green leaf salad. The burger was delicious and portioned well. We had a delay between the starters and mains of nearly half hour but the atmosphere was relaxed and they checked in with us for drinks and apologising for the delay. When we left around 7pm the place was getting busier. So definitely book in advance. Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere, excellent covid measures and great location near the sea front.
August 2021
Great food and speedy service, good variety of choice and was a great way to end our holiday.
August 2021
Had a top-notch dinner here in the superbly refurbished pub, service was excellent, friendly and efficient even though Lyme Regis (and I assume much of the UK's service industry) was suffering a staffing shortage when we visited in early summer 2021.
July 2021
Excellent food choice for all the family
June 2021
Great pub, good menu choice, attentive service and quality food. What more could you want!
September 2020
Had a lovely cream tea here. Staff very nice and friendly. Would recommend .
July 2020
Excellent meal there, could not fault service. Top marks
March 2020
Visited twice in the week as a party of 10. Good service on both visits and some good meals but some only average. Considered the menu to be slightly overpriced. Worth a visit but not great.
July 2019
fab food. attentive staff. loved the decor and ambiance. we came here most days of our holiday.
June 2019
We dined here twice. The food was of a high standard, our waitress Charlotte, who served us both times was bubbly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, she even managed to find some blood orange sorbet on our second visit ( which we had had the first time as this was the flavour of the day and was to die for.) The Pilot Boat is right in the heart of the town and looks like a pub when you enter, but go further in and find their fabulous restaurant. Try the sorbet or ice-cream flavour of the day, you won't be disappointed. Starters and mains are excellent too.
July 2018
Nicely refurbished inside. Sun terrace has lovely view. Food not bad. Good with young kids. Went twice

An absolute gem of a bakery and cafe in the heart of Lyme Regis with communal seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Serving fresh sourdough bread, savoury snacks and delicious pastries alongside excellent coffee and other drinks.
The Town Mill Bakery, Riverside Workshops, Coombe Street, Lyme Regis DT7 3PY
We had brunch/lunch here a few times and the food was lovely. The seating is at long tables with benches, with a few little plants placed in-between the next diners too you. Not really a place to linger as they can get quite busy - but it's always nice.

AWESOME burgers!
March 2024
Visited for a Sunday Lunch whilst on holiday the staff are very pleasant & accommodating, nothing special inside but the food was absolutely amazing just like a home cooked roast a large portion with a choice of 3 meats & veggie option plenty of fresh vegetables with lashings of Gravy they also brought out a bowl of turkey for our dog which was a nice touch. We had a bread & butter pudding with custard for dessert it was to die for! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
July 2023
Lovely cafe, so accommodating and helpful, the burgers were excellent.
May 2022
The best Burger in Lyme - always good to book. Family run business and we return there everytime we visit the town

Literary Lyme Walking Tours
(Less than a mile)
(1)
Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast have a wealth of natural history to explore, but alongside that, they also have a fascinating literary background. Literary Lyme Walking Tours take you on a journey through the setting of films and novels, introducing you to the inspiration behind famous characters and following in the footsteps of authors who chose to visit and live in the area including Jane Austen and Mary Anning. Tours are themed to particular genres and authors, such as the Jane Austen tours or the French Lieutenant's Woman tours. The walks range in times and prices so for more information get in touch or take a peek at their website!
Lovely staff. Really interesting and informative museum. Loved reading about the history of the town and seeing the fossils!

Dinosaurland Fossil Museum
(Less than a mile)
(7)
A private museum that’s owned and run by Palaeontologist Steve Davies and his wife Jenny, Dinosaurland Fossil Museum contains a spectacular collection of the local Jurassic marine fossils. The collection grows each year, meaning there’s always something new to see, with more than 10,000 specimens to show people just how exciting and wonderful the world of fossils and dinosaurs really is. Even the building itself has an interesting pedigree as the pioneering fossil hunter Mary Anning was baptised here on 27th June 1799 and continued to worship here until about 1830. She discovered the first Ichthyosaur on the beaches here in 1811.

Lots of interesting fossils and dinosaurs on view.
October 2023
So many fossils could fo with an upgrade but if you're interested its work popping in
October 2023
Interesting displays, especially the time gallery upstairs. We were unfortunate to go when there was a group of students, so couldn't get to all rooms, but gent on the door did warn us.
March 2023
Worth a visit and we thought it was good value. Loads of things to see and read but you have got to be into fossils and geology. Some great set ups with models, and all explained. There were some very young children in there as we walked around and they seem to love it, as the models were huge for them. They were barely walking but seem to know many of the dinosaur names. The person who welcomed us was really friendly and was happy to advice on good places to hunt for fossils. It needs a bit of a dust in places, as do most museums.
June 2022
We've visited here several times, there's a good mix of info for all age ranges, so children and adults are kept busy. Definitely worth a visit if dinosaurs and fossils are your thing. It's a bit cramped inside, but that has never spoiled our visit.
March 2022
Steve Davies has created a unique and astonishing museum on two spacious floors within the old Baptist Chapel that Mary Anning frequented. The geology and wide range of fossils are explained and exhibited. Steve has also purchased and exhibits the truly remarkable collections of several other Lyme "rock hunters", and in a very nice touch uses short biographical notes to explain their contributions. Fossil and history paradise. Don's miss it!!!
September 2021
Really good morning here, something for all ages, good timelines and lovely dinosaurs to hold for children. Very good.
April 2018
Lyme Regis Museum
(Less than a mile)
(14)
Standing where Dorset meets Devon, the Lyme Regis Museum is on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and was built on the site of fossilist Mary Anning’s home. A chance to discover Lyme’s history, geology, fossils, artists and writers, from J M Whistler to Jane Austen and John Fowles, the museum stands in the heart of the town and is run almost entirely by volunteers. Collections range from interesting to quirky displays with walks and events scheduled throughout the season, so keep an eye on the website for more information. The museum is open from Easter to November and prices start at £3.95 for adults while children and students go free.
A nice little museum wirth a visit
October 2023
A small but perfectly-formed museum, packed full of interesting local history.
September 2023
Quaint building and interesting selection of exhibits- our 4 year old loved the lie on the floor dinosaur scene.
July 2023
This is a really lovely museum which is packed full of interesting artefacts and fossils. My kids and I enjoyed looking round and learning so much. There is a cute gift shop at the end too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were happy to chat about fossils.
July 2022
Always interesting and its all been updated in recent years. It can get busy so go in early. We bought an annual pass as it's only £1 more and worth the value, plus supporting a great British attraction, not some franchise theme park. There is a lot about fossils but also interesting exhibits covering the area and notable locals who have lived there. There is a big spoiler about the Meryl Streep scene when she was to be filmed standing at the end of the Cobb but you need to look out for that yourself to find out what happened.
June 2022
Great- full of interesting local info aimed at children and adults. The building itself is worth seeing from inside, and the displays are well arranged- we escaped a rainy afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed it
March 2022
This wonderful and friendly museum explains the uniqueness of Lyme, it's history, characters, geology, and most famous fossils. It feels intimate, cared for, and there is something for everyone. It also has a splendid gallery about Mary Anning, her fossils, and struggle. This museum offers the "whole picture" context for the more specialised Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. The two together will enrich any thoughtful visitor.
September 2021
Well worth a visit especially if you go on Town history walk first.
July 2019
Fossils galore- recommend the Fossil Walk which includes the Museum entry. The staff there are very helpful and impart their knowledge with enthusiasm.
October 2018
Great and you get to return for a year with your entry ticket
September 2018
Excellent.
July 2018
Would highly recommend the Fossil Walk. Highly informative, lots to discover and a great walk for all ages.
June 2018
Excellent museum with friendly, enthusiastic staff. Fossil walks not to be missed - recommended after rain and storms for best finds.
April 2018
Fascinating museum detailing the history of Lyme Regis and of course the fossils! Reasonably priced and well worth a visit.
September 2017
Marine Theatre - Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)
(4)
Housed in a quirky 120 yr old seafront building that was once a sea water baths, The Marine Theatre is today a bustling venue hosting over 200 shows and events each year including theatre, comedy and music. Enjoy a pre show cocktail, listen to live jazz or just soak up the panoramic sea views from the balcony at the Stage Door Bar.
We saw Hayseed Dixie here. The atmosphere was lively & good humoured. What a great place to see a band. The staff who greeted us on entry were really cheerful & welcoming. There appears to be a good range of things going on. (If only we'd still been around to see the Bay City Rollers!)
September 2023
For a small town the quality of acts booked is remarkable. This is a great little theatre with friendly staff and a wonderful ambience. Highly recommended.
March 2023
A lovely venue with a wide range of events/performances. Went twice within a week. Saw the play - A Pure Woman - which helped to increase our enjoyment of visits to Max Gate and Hardy's cottage later in the week. Also saw a live screening of The Importance of Being Earnest. Great production. Everyone at the theatre was very helpful and welcoming.
October 2018
We enjoyed a cinema film showing event in this atmospheric, friendly local theatre. Refreshments available. Good value.
April 2018
The Town Mill
(Less than a mile)
(23)
This ancient watermill, set in the artisan quarter of Lyme Regis, was rescued from dereliction by local volunteers and painstakingly restored for the public to enjoy. Nestling around a cobbled courtyard, the mill buildings house a working flour watermill, as well as art galleries, a café, artisan workshops, a bakery & deli and a micro-brewery.
The cafe serves excellent toasted sandwiches and salad.
October 2023
Lovely little spot. Away from crowds
October 2023
Amazing place. Really helpful volunteers and lovely setting.
August 2023
Interesting place . Had breakfast twice at the town mill bakery , can really recommend .
May 2023
Excellent micro brewery
May 2023
Called in for breakfast on a wet Bank Holiday. Very busy but staff were friendly and attentive. A bit pricey but tasty, good quality food.
May 2023
Lovely place to sit outside with the dog on a sunny afternoon and have a lovely beer.
April 2023
Picturesque but not much open when we went in March.
March 2023
Lovely place for a drinkp
August 2022
Lovely area with a gallery, restaurants and a pub. Can thoroughly recommend the cider!
June 2022
Most enjoyable visit
June 2022
very interesting tour of working mill. The lyme regis brewery has fantastic beers and a lovely courtyard to sit in the sun to drink it
May 2022
Even better since its recent restoration- you can see inside the mill from a viewing platform and read the information board- no charge but donations encouraged. It's a beautiful building, brilliantly restored; we bought flour from the shop because we were inspired to encourage this little gem to thrive.
March 2022
The old Mill has been lovingly restored to working order, and volunteers are keen to talk about its history, working, and demonstrate it's working. A gem, must be seen. The enjoy a beer or cider across the yard at the Brewery!
September 2021
The brewery was excellent!
June 2021
We loved the Town Mill, particularly the Lyme Regis micro-brewery. Weather wasn't too kind but never spoiled our visits. Covid meant we had to sit at outside tables, sometimes in the rain, however staff were always willing to bring our orders to us as we stood with umbrellas or managed to get a table with cover. Great hosts and great fun.
May 2021
It's a lovely collection of buildings and artisan businesses, a great area to while away time, get inspired and spend money locally! The people at the mill are super-keen and we enjoyed the whole place a lot.
October 2020
A great attraction to visit and learn about milling of grain into flour. A guided tour available and only a donation suggested. Great for children and adults alike. Guide very knowledgeable.
November 2019
Well worth a visit for young and old. Well informed volunteers provide the tour and make it so interesting. No fee is charged but contributions are welcomed and help to keep it open so please give generously.
July 2019
Well worth a visit. The "miller" gave a very informative tour Which included some history of Lyme regis as well as explaining the workings of the mill.
October 2018
The Town Mill is a great attraction, the tour guided by a volunteer miller was excellent and informative.(suggest checking the tour times as they did not run every day) . Opportunities for photographs during the tour were limited because of space but I returned a couple of days later and was able to wander around and take as many as I wanted , I also got to talk to another miller. All for a donation entry fee! The small shop sold their flour and books about the mill. ( I think 2 other reviews were talking about the Courtyard Cafe)
October 2018
Took ages to serve us and the table service in general was poor. Food was good but let down by indifferent service.
July 2018
Well worth a visit as the central feature in a really pleasant old town walk behind the main street. Easier when you start at the top and go down through the twists and turns.
June 2018
Church Cliff Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)
(3)
Famous for its picturesque Jurassic coastline, as well as its array of fossils, Church Cliff Beach is on the edge of Lyme Regis town. Sandy in places, at low tide there is an extensive rock ledge with hundreds of rock pools where you can catch shrimp. The River Lym flows into the bay, so paddling is a necessity if you want to stroll on the sand. The beach is flanked by rock armour which protects the promenade, and the sand is covered at high tide. There’s paid parking close by, so don’t forget your change. There are facilities, restaurants and cafes in the town. There’s no lifeguard cover on this beach, and dogs are permitted all year round, which is great news for walkers as it also makes up part of the West Dorset Heritage Coast and its accompanying footpaths.
Plenty of parking with a moderate walk down many steps to the beach. Worth the walk though with plenty of fossils around if your prepared to look.
September 2023
Lovely beach but spoilt by the amount of broken bits of glass and rusty metal components that have fallen from the cliff (believe there was some form of rubbish dump at the top of the cliff many years ago) - not a problem for most people but was worried about our dog getting injured.
May 2023
A lovely stretch of beach with rock pools and a chance to find fossils. Get there as the tide is going out and get there early. Take provisions as it is just a beach, of shingle and sand, there are some rocks to clamber over and rock pools to explore. One of our favourite beaches in the UK.
June 2022
Town Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)
(8)
In the picturesque harbour town of Lyme Regis, Town Beach is covered in pebbles at one end thanks to the coastal protection scheme that placed them there to provide essential care for the Marine Parade and the buildings along it. At the other end the beach has been built up with sand, no longer gets covered at high tide and provides an extensive beach area manned by RNLI lifeguards in the summer. There are kiosks, cafes, shops and restaurants bordering the beach, so it’s ideal for visiting with family and spending the whole day on the sand if the weather allows. The main sandy beach in the area, it’s a delight and easy to get to when on holiday in Dorset. There is paid parking nearby, so don’t forget your change, and remember that dogs are not permitted from 1st April to 31st October, while from 1st November to 31st March they must be on leads.
Nice beach but very busy and did not like the swooping seagulls!
August 2023
Wonderful location and so much to do, we didn't use our car once for a week, unheard of!! The parking in the town not good but for a town of that age, it was adequate and the other car parks further out were very good.
May 2022
Booked a beach hut from Town Council! Great fun and provided welcome shade on v hot day! Appreciated the two chairs provided but would have liked a small table for food / coffee
September 2021
Great beach on the sandy side was really busy and made use of the boat hire on the beach which was great fun, seagulls are a real issue when it comes to food and we ate ours in our tent after my daughter lost a sandwich to one right out of her mouth.
August 2021
We loved the seafront and that in October it was full of people. We liked the beach bit, seeing families enjoying the sand, and it was great to see open loos, nice ice-cream and lots of different places to eat and drink.
October 2020
We had a lovely dog walk along the beach, very pleasant.
September 2018
A lovely family friendly beach. Pebbled at one end and sandy at the other. Plenty of eateries and ice cream places. A good place for fossil hunting.
August 2018
Excellent area and beach although extremely busy if the sun makes an appearance. I go to Lyme Regis whilst dogs are allowed on the beach (I do use it with my dog) and would like to see more policing re dogs off leads.
April 2017
Cobb Gate Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)
(8)
This pretty harbour town dates back to the 14th century, and is sheltered by a curving harbour wall, The Cobb, as its known contains a small sandy beach made famous in the opening shot of the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman. You reach the beach between the RNLI station and the slipway, and there is lifeguard cover in the summer months. Activities nearby include fishing, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, surfing and water skiing, while facilities close to the beach include cafes and restaurants and toilets. There are lots of walks in the area including guided tours of the famous fossil bearing cliffs. There is paid parking nearby, Axminster train station is five minutes away as the crow flies and buses are available to the town centre. Dogs are allowed on the beach from 1st November to 30th March as long as they’re on the lead, but they are not permitted in the summer months.
Love the stroll along the Cobb beach and area so clean plenty of places to eat and drink. The locals are so warm and welcoming, can’t beat Lyme regis
November 2021
Perfect sandy beach for everyone. Loved the Marine Parade with food and drink and ice creams.
October 2021
excellent, safe beach
September 2021
Always raked and cleaned. Pretty safe, excellent lifeguards. Restaurants and cafes need to be open later. Toilets very clean but not enough of them so long queues. Watch out for seagulls stealing food from your hands!
August 2021
Lovely harbour and great places to grab a bite to eat. But it is extremely busy. Every inch of the small patch of sand by the cobb was taken up but beach shelters, feet deck chairs etc. If your kids are not fussed about sand avoid the area if you want quite and relaxing. The other side of the cobb is quite and so are the toilets (which are clean)
August 2021
We walked here from Seaton along the muddy coastal path and Lyme Regis is lovely . We took a boat out from the cob .
July 2021
The cob was lovely to walk on and all you needed was near by
September 2020
Lovely to see this in sunshine for the first time in several visits. Worth going early to see it uncrowded.

Named after the Duke of Monmouth who landed here in 1685 in an attempt to take the crown from King James II, Monmouth Beach is a large pebble and sand beach that stretches over a kilometer southwest from the Cobb wall. There are beach huts, a bowling green, the Lyme Regis Power Boat Club and paid car parks close by. Meanwhile, for those wishing to have their own exploratory adventures, you can find a layer of limestone called the ammonite graveyard at Monmouth Beach, containing a large number of (you guessed it) ammonites. There are numerous walks close by and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. There is lifeguard cover in the summer, and all the town’s cafés, restaurants and amenities are within easy reach.
A very lovely beach if you like stones! But great when the tide is right out and you can fossil hunting.
October 2023
My dog Luna and I really enjoy walking and playing ball along the beach keeping eyes down to see if we can find a fossil!!! very clean and looked after Love it!!!
June 2022
Stunning, quiet and picture perfect ideal place to relax and paint ?
November 2021
Stayed here in The Little Sea House right on the beach. Amazing sunrises. Beautiful and peaceful but tricky to walk on in places.
October 2021
We had a lovely holiday staying in the little sea house. Perfect location on the beach. Was very warm & cosy inside. Was generally clean on arrival but think it could do a intensive deep clean occasionally to clean racks /hard to reach places ( plug holes) but this did not effect our stay ( I’m just bit OCD with cleaning) I would recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing tranquil break. Also the out hours staff from toadhall cottages were very helpful. Would book again
May 2021
Just beautiful
September 2020
Great for fossil hunting and dog friendly!

Charmouth Beach
(2 miles)
(6)
Perfect for family days out, Charmouth Beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, fossils (for which the area is famous), good swimming and good surf. It is divided into two distinct areas (East and West) by the mouth of the River Char, which often forms a lagoon suitable for boating or watching the ducks swim past. To get to the beach, simply find the centre of the village and follow Lower Sea Lane. There are ample car parks close to the beach as well as another one half way down Lower Sea Lane if those are full. Dogs are allowed on the West beach as long as they are on leads from 1st May and 30th September between the sea defenses and Lyme Regis but not on the area of beach in front of the beach huts and the Heritage Centre. From 1st July to 31st August dogs are not allowed on East Beach between 10:00am and 6:00pm, but are welcome outside these hours. At East Beach there is a beach café and picnic tables close by, and in the summer months there is a bouncy castle. There are also lots of beautiful walks close by to enjoy. West Beach meanwhile is about a mile and a half long and is a haven for fossil hunters and avid rock-poolers.
Walking this beach from Lyme Regis
October 2023
Great beach, Its busy by the shops but plenty of places to walk to find space away from others. The toilets are bad, so with a few wipes and wash you hands after. Get there early for parking. It is sand, shingle and rock pools, so great for a non commercialised beach day. Follow the tide out if you are fossil hunting but best to have a guided tour first from the museum so you know what you are looking for. One of our favourite sea sides in Britain.
June 2022
This is a beautiful area. Gets very busy and there are about four car parks and on street parking. The museum was very fascinating. Toilet queue was horrendous. This is a great area for inflatables as you can go down the stream if you want instead of the sea. There is also a large grass bank to picnic on instead of the beach cobbles.
August 2021
Great beach if but a bit stony where we went, good facilities for food and drinks and no where near as many seagulls as Lyme Regis.
August 2021
Lovely quaint beach.
May 2019
Lovely spot to sit, relax and look for fossils.

October 2023

It was great, I love Lyme Regis!
August 2023

July 2023
We have been holidaying in Lyme Regis for 10 years and have stayed in many different properties. 2 The Beach is without doubt the best we have found. It is spotlessly clean, finished to a very high standard, located perfectly to enjoy all that Lyme Regis has to offer and has a lovely homely feel to it. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to staying there again.
June 2023
This is the first time we have used Toad Hall Cottages and we were very impressed with both the standard of the property and how our booking was handled. We will definitely book with you again. Thankyou for great service all round. ?
June 2023
Wonderful hosts, spotlessly clean and well appointed. There is even an Echo Dot in each of the bedrooms !! Bottle of wine in the fridge was very much appreciated after the long drive and, in particular, trying to gain vehicular access to both the property and the garage !!
May 2023
Ideal location for a beach holiday and property was very well equipped.

June 2021
Lovely property, great location
May 2021
Very welcoming. Only point of improvement is the long pile carpet which has got marked at the entrance which reduced the score to good from excellent BTW the gutter and collection pot for rainwater outside the window in the twin bedroom window overflows easily and might need attention. We did have some heavy downpours!
May 2021
Two the Beach is an excellent property. It is well situated. The standards for everything are extremely, high. An excellent place. Would deficient lay, recommend.

August 2020
We had a fantastic holiday in Lyme Regis. The apartment was very comfortable and well-equipped...the owners had thought of everything. The welcome pack goodies were a lovely surprise too!
July 2020
Location of this property is perfect! Close enough to walk to all Lyme Regis has to offer but in a quiet spot. Standard of property excellent. Modern, homely, clean and looked after. The owners have gone to great lengths to make guests feel welcome and have all they need or may have forgotten go bring. Iron, Ironing board, shopping bags, umbrella, hairdryer, beach chairs, board games, cookery books etc. The welcome gifts were also a lovely touch. Thank you!
March 2020
This was our sixth visit to this property and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The owners have thought of everything.
March 2020
Enjoyed the layout of apartment and everything was obviously lot of thought had gone into it. Well done on the interior design
November 2019
We noticed a problem with the boiler (which would have left us with no heating and no hot water) at around 4pm on the Saturday evening of our stay. Within half an hour of reporting it to the owners they had sent round an engineer who immediately sorted it out! I couldn’t have made that happen in my own home - fantastic service and attention to guests’ welfare.
October 2019
Quite like some fresh cushions. We loved our stay thank you.
September 2019
Yes we have stayed at 2 the beach twice now and we would book again.
September 2019
Chocolates, breakfast cereal, milk and wine was a nice and unexpected touch. Property well maintained and equipment was great.
August 2019
We had a wonderful stay Thank You. The property was in a fantastic location. Well appointed and the welcome card and gift was really appreciated. Having the bonus of a garage meant there was no stress worrying about parking and the additional cost. It was nice that the apartment was serviced the middle weekend with new sheets and towels. I had washed some but it saved me doing anymore. Please Thank the owners.
August 2019
Loved the apartment and had a fantastic stay. Many thanks.
May 2019
Enjoyed our stay very much. Excellent location.
April 2019
We will definitely be back!
April 2019
We had a wonderful stay at 2 the Beach in charming Lyme Regis, beautiful tastful Apartment, with everything provided for, so many thoughtful extra's, also thank you for the chocs, flowers, milk, cereals and juice. Enjoyed the Theatre, and not having to drive anywhere as there is enough to do in the town, thanks for a lovely stay, highly recommended
March 2019
This was our fourth visit to the property within 18 months; I think that speaks for itself. It’s an ideal home-from-home for us and we hope to be back later this year.
March 2019
Toad hall cottages provided an excellent service. I would recommend your service to Freinds and family. Thank you
February 2019
An excellent apartment in a perfect location - yards from the sea. Beautifully appointed and decorated and super comfortable. We had a great long weekend at 2 The Beach. Thank You!
January 2019
Very much. The welcome pack, welcome card and the fact that milk had been left in the fridge for us were nice touches. Please thank the owners for us.
November 2018
We stayed in the same property in March and said after that the only thing we could think of that was missing in terms of equipment was kitchen scales - this time we noted that some scales had been provided, and we made good use of them. We really appreciated the fact that our comments had been acted on, thank you.
October 2018
Loved the property. It was like a home from home. I like the personal touch of the owners with the welcome card and chocolates. I really like staying in their properties. I also like their properties as they are decorated and furnished with modern items. If I am going to pay money I want to stay somewhere that is furnished to a similar standard as my own home. There are some properties that I would not stay at because of this even when they are in an excellent location.
October 2018
Yes. Very nice and clean with good facilities. The only problem we encountered was with the parking as our car was difficult to park but that's because we had a large car so not your fault
September 2018
We had a lovely week in this excellent apartment, would definitely use again.
July 2018
Very enjoyable and will probably book again.
July 2018
We had an absolutely lovely time perfect apartment in a perfect location.. We will be back ..
June 2018
Just keep things as they are.
June 2018
We had the most wonderful stay. The apartment is is such a great location and has everything that you need for a perfect holiday. Please pass on out thanks to the property owners for the extra "treats" that were left for us on arrival
May 2018
An excellent property and really thoughtful decorated. Really great for a young family like us- travel cot was of a high standard and really kind to provide children’s plates and cups etc. Great shower too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back! Thank you x
April 2018
This newly refurbished cottage has been done to a high standard. The owners have added a number of small items that one may use at home, I.e a shopping bag, umbrella, and a coffee machine, tea, coffee, biscuits and flowers. If one has children then there were lots of games and books to keep them amused. The garage parking is definitely a bonus as parking is difficult in Lyme.
April 2018
The owner's have clearly made a tremendous effort in furnishing the Beach - super standard all round. They also very kindly rang ahead of 'check-in' time to let us know the property was ready if we were already in the neighbourhood. Although you can't park directly outside the property, the garage is very near by and works perfectly. This is a real bonus given the shortage of parking in Lyme Regis. The central location is perfect in that it is quiet and peaceful yet you're on the beach in just a couple of minutes.
April 2018
This is a lovely property in such a quiet yet central location. It is light and airy whilst cosy and comfortable and has clearly been redecorated and refurbished throughout to a very high standard. We had a minor issue with the property whilst there and contacted the owners who promptly came round and rectified the problem for us and also gave us some great advice about where to go and what to see whilst in Lyme Regis. We have had a fabulous holiday and will definitely return to this property. Thanks to Lynette and Lee for making this such a great place to stay!
March 2018
We had a super time. It was our second stay in the property in 4 months, so I think that tells you that we liked it. The welcome goodies provided by the owners were very much appreciated as were the flowers,
February 2018
Wonderful!
November 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. The cottage makes a great base in Lyme and Lyme itself is a great base for the surrounding area. We had forgotten how beautiful the countryside is inland from the coast.
November 2017
Our stay was fabulous and the apartment excellent, couldn't have asked for anything more. So nice and spotlessly clean - fab!
September 2017
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 2 The Beach in wonderful Lyme Regis. The only thing I would mention is that the property was not quite ready when we arrived because the owner had not been informed of our arrival by Toad Hall Cottages, however, this was not a problem for us at all.
September 2017
The apartment is lovely, beautifully decorated in every detail ( everything with a sea-theme from the chocolates to the tissue-boxes!! delightful ). We appreciated the welcoming touches very much ( the card, the flowers... ) ; we very much appreciated also that the owners allowed us to leave the property later in the morning, it has rendered much easier to pack everything. But it was difficult to leave so lovely a property anyway!! The children appreciated the Sky channels, the books and plays ( and we did it as well ).Spotlessly clean, every appliance brand new.Very detailed information. We were a little preoccupied with the automatic system of entering the property but everything went well.Very good service from Toad Hall Cottages.Thank you very much for a delightful stay in the beautiful Lyme Regis and we hope to come back!!
August 2017
We had a wonderful time - the apartment was as good if not better than we hoped, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. We would very much like to stay again next summer.
July 2017
We were blessed with glorious weather but were thankful that it was not too hot as there did not appear to be cooling in the apartment. I assume that sea breezes keep Lyme cool at night. The apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed. We appreciated being able to have a late check out and the owner went out of her way to provide assistance. We also appreciated the supplies (breakfast and coffee and wine) as well as the lovely welcome note. Thank you for providing such good service.
July 2017
Beautiful comfortable place to stay absolute luxury !!
July 2017
Fantastic location, brilliant accommodation and was the best family holiday we have had. Fully recommend it. Didn't want to leave. It felt like home from home.
October 2016
We had a great week at 2 The Beach. The location is perfect for exploring Lyme Regis, with plenty of restaurants and pubs right on your door step. The apartment is faultless - well equipped, cosy and welcoming, and absolutely pristine. We would thoroughly recommend it and hope to be back soon!
October 2016
Having spent a week at 'The Beach' we cannot recommend it enough. Beautiful apartment, close to the heart of Lyme Regis which meant you only had to use the car if you wanted to! Full sky package was a huge bonus.... as was the cot and high chair for our little one. We will return!
August 2016
Beautiful, contemporary apartment. Thoughtful and welcoming arrival goodies. Fantastic location. Myself, my husband and 2 children ( age 11 and 8) had a great holiday and would definitely return.
July 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 2 The Beach. The property was in a good location, was beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The hosts were helpful and even texted to let us know the property was ready early. They left a great deal of information about Lyme Regis in the property with suggestions for restaurants, walks, things to do in the area, etc. They had essentials like milk, cereal, juice in the apartment for our arrival...a nice extra touch! I would highly recommend 2 The Beach for families, couples, etc. Thanks to our wonderful hosts....we had an excellent vacation in Lyme Regis and would not hesitate to stay there again!

LBK Gourmet Burger Bar 44 Coombe St, Lyme Regis DT7 3QA (T: 01297 445816)
June 2019
Ate here twice during our stay in Lyme Regis. The food is amazing and the price really good and the service was great too

June 2018
Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis
(Less than a mile)
(7)
September 2017
